Most Popular Baby Names In Alberta

Alberta publishes its list of the most popular newborn baby names in 2017.

After seven years in the front row, Liam’s place on the list of most popular first names among Alberta newborns, while for Albertans, the name Olivia maintains her reign for a fifth consecutive year.

In the list of the most popular first names of 2017, published by Alberta Tuesday, there is a mix of traditional names and rare pearls.

Blaze, Godspower and Nitorious-Shyne are among the first names of newborns whose parents have privileged the creative approach. Another family baptized their child with a single letter of the alphabet, the letter V, without addition.

On the girls’ side, the theme of nature is spreading among less traditional names, including Sky, Star and Sunshine.

The most popular names in boys:

  • Noah: 250
  • Liam: 244
  • Benjamin: 229
  • Logan: 226
  • Lucas: 216

The most popular names in girls:

  • Olivia: 236
  • Emma 215
  • Charlotte: 187
  • Ava: 184
  • Sophia: 184

Fans of the Game of Thrones series will surely recognize the names Tyrion and Daenerys, who are also on the list.
